When I pulled into the parking lot the cops were flocked to the convenient store. Huddled. Surveying. Like starving buzzards to roadkill. Usually, and understandable, scenes like this create strange energy. What’s going on? What are they doing? Why 10 cops here? Why nobody else getting gas or vitamin water? It’s 11am on a Saturday. I was hazy eyed. The long night before made me look real untrustworthy. Like a high school pothead bum wearing baggy clothes and afraid to lift his chin above a 45degree angle. Did I even sleep? Cops have 6th sense for these things..
“You okay young Man?”
Yes sir, I just need to get in there.
“Can’t help you out, place is locked up”
This is an emergency. My car has 2 miles left before running out of gas. The next gas station is atleast 5 away. I only have cash. What can we do?
After saying this he eyed me and something in his head clicked that I was telling the truth. It was likely my shabby appearance. He believed immediately I was the type to let my gas get this low, to be on my last option.
“Okay let me see what the owner of the store says”
Officer one shuffles away. Now I’m standing next to a BEEFCAKE. A man of near 260, 6’4, fit, but not intimidatingly so.. except his sheer size. His presence was towering. I felt safe around him, interestingly. And while I don’t trust law enforcement officers (many are power hungry. take advantage of some really down on their luck people) I don’t demonize the whole profession. You’ll never hear me even whisper something as stupid as ‘defund the police.’ If anything, the opposite. We need better trained (especially psychologically) officers. It’s a dangerous gig for not great pay. But I’ve a guilty conscience and cops bring this out, to the foreground. 2 of my closest friends are Highway Patrol. And as the J Cole, Greatest Lyricist out of NC to ever do it said

In the Southeast, Highway patrol rules the road. Off all my cross country driving, driving to other states, I’ve never met a state as OD with road cops as NC, Virginia, and New Jersey. Top 3 most dangerous cities to carry 1,000s of dollars worth of contraband under some towels in your trunk.

“What happened here, anyways?” I asked my meaty crime fighting stranger.
“Bad robbery. Armed, got away with some stuff”
“Damn. is everyone okay?” I asked as I stuck my forehead straight to the glass door to peer inside. Things looked okay…. but how could I know the true horrors that had happened in there just 30 minutes before I whipped in the parking lot like a psychopath…..
“Yeah, everyone’s good. The cashier is pretty shaken. You can expect that with these things.”
“You’re right about that. Can’t imagine how freaked out they are. Was he masked? Did they get a face?”
“We’re just going through some routine questioning now. It’s an on going case.”
“I understand. Real legal stuff. I hope I can get let in, my car won’t make it any further.”
“Officer ______ and the owner should be back soon. Are YOU okay??”
Why do people keep asking me that?
“Yes, I slept in my contacts.”
Poetically the owner came back, saving me from a slippery pseudo interrogation on the sidewalk.

My faithful readers, who have been here a dedicated ummm…. month and a half. Will tell you there are some things I don’t write on because it’s HIGHLY PERSONAL.
And to attempt to teach others my personal life approach to these topics, is an injustice to YOU.
The best example of this is the fairer sex. I’ll never teach how to get women. Not because I don’t know (I don’t struggle with females.) But I grew up the oldest sibling with 4 younger sisters. Women are second nature, I know their brains like the back of my hand. THIS IS CURSE AND BLESSING. But it files under same philosophy as;
Famous German mathematician and physicist Johann Carl Friedrich Gauss once said “I got it, now I have to get it” He was talking about how he saw the process, the steps in formulas, but he couldn’t yet ‘get’ it in terms of explaining it, or putting sentences of understanding to it.
This is how I feel about women and masculinity. The problem also with these things; each Man has a different style, approach, a way of holding themselves that aligns too cohesively and perfect to their Spirit that to attempt any other style would be a cruel injustice.
If I tried to explain my personal beliefs, habits, approaches to Women or Masculinity. It might cause you to leave the correct path of finding your own!
I will say this about masculinity;
Don’t get caught up in worrying about if you’re ‘manly’ enough. Because what defines a Man? To me, it’s doing what you want, how you want, when you want, and with your chin pointing straight out like you’re proud to have an adams apple. You must understand this!
True ‘masculinity’ isn’t checking off the boxes of what you think ‘men’ should do. Using tools, hunting, lifting weights, drinking miller lite, etc. This is failed blue print. A Man creates his own way. A Man has the confidence to set ablaze any direction he wants. He doesn’t FEAR. He doesn’t DOUBT. He Creates, Protects those weaker than him, He Provides for those under his wing. He trains body, mind, spirit, emotion (homage Brother Lobo with:) TRAIN EVERYTHING.
That’s what it is to be a Man. You’re ready for War. For Action. Every single day you walk and act in the way you’re called to act. No MAN is getting stoned with his buddies 5 hours a day sitting around getting fat watching sports teams he doesn’t care about. No Man is simping and becoming an emotionally wrecked child over some girl. YOU LEAD. YOU DON’T REACT. YOU PRODUCE. YOU MAKE SHIT HAPPEN.
The thing about masculinity is you NEVER talk about being masculine, or manly, or ALPHA.
A Man is respected by his ability to Influence/Power, to Kill/Protect, to Earn/Provide.
Imagine in your head right now a MAN you respect. Why is it? Why do you choose them as your beacon? Understand this, dive into it.
BUT YOU WILL NOT LEARN ABOUT MASCULINITY WHILE TRYING TO ‘LEARN’ ABOUT IT. YOU MUST BE ACTIVE. YOU MUST BE DOING. YOU MUST BE BUILDING, MOVING FORWARD, GETTING BETTER EVERY 24HRS.
The answers will come to you.
Sometimes I don’t even consider myself ‘masculine’ because I enjoy creating, artistry, sensual experiences, romance. But then I remember, the only thing about being a Man is having complete, nearly blind, faith in yourself to get shit done. To make things happen.
